Vets

If any condition below occurs, please bring the mumu to a vet.

  • Paws - If paws are red (from licking), consult veterinarian. For home remedies, click here.
  • Stool - If blood is found in any of the mumus’ stool, stool is too watery, or colour of stool is not normal, seek treatment immediately.
  • Skin – If there is abnormal skin conditions, consult veterinarian if condition doesn’t improve after showering with Malaseb.
  • Vomit (Especially Yogi) – If Yogi vomits more than once on the same day, consult veterinarian.
  • Stomach (Especially Yogi) - If Yogi’s stomach makes noises, observe him closely. If it continues for more than 1 day, seek treatment.
  • For any trips to the vet, usually KB will be the main person accompanying the mumus. Another Ladrang staff will drive and assist in handling the mumus., especially  if all mumus go out to the vet together (e.g. vaccination trips). The Ladrang staff who would usually assist KB with bringing mumus to the vet are Beng Kooi, Shin, Jean Mei and Jean Ai.
  • Best to call the vet for appointment or check the availability of the doctor before heading to the clinic. Insist to have an appointment with Dr. Prem.
  • Note: We do not use muzzles for our mumus when they go out or when they go to the vet.

GENERAL TIPS ABOUT VETS, VACCINATION, MEDICAL CARE

Selecting a vet surgeon should not be based on personality but upon their convenience to your home, reasons: emergencies, multiple visits

Puppy should be vaccinated before taking his/her outside for the first time, reasons: airborne diseases, parasite eggs in grass

If male dogs are neutered (removed testicles) and recovery takes one week, female dogs are spayed and recovery takes two 2 weeks. (Out of all the mumus, only Oser has been spayed so far. )

Neutering puppies at 6 months of age is recommended as it inhibits (but does not prevent) prostate cancer in male dogs and breast cancer in female dogs

Female dogs can be only spayed  AFTER the first period

Keep a record of the date of injection, the identification of the vaccine and the amount given

Vaccination should start only after 10 weeks of birth

Most vaccination programmes require a booster when the puppy is 1 year old and once a year thereafter

Puppies should be weaned by the time they are about two months old

Proper nutrition and parasite control keep dogs healthy and less susceptible to many dangerous diseases

Should go for thorough dental evaluation at 6 months of age. Home dental care should be initiated at 6 months of age

Important of brushing their teeth weekly and providing good dental devices such as nylon bones

Once a year, bring grown dog to the vet for examination and vaccination booster

Some vets recommend blood tests, thyroid level check and dental evaluation

Blood tests performed at one year of age, dental examination around the 3rd or 4th birthday
